Message: General Secretary ICPPB

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to ICPPB’s celebration of three years of activities on infection control.

Infection Control and Prevention Program in Bangladesh was launched in January 2005 with the joint support from Drexel university College of Medicine in the memory of late Dr. Oksana Korzenewski , an eminent scholar of infectious disease and Bangladesh Medical Association of North America. We are grateful to the members of these organizations for making this program possible.

I have got no hesitation to mention that ICPPB is a dream child of Dr. Ziauddn Ahmed of Drexel University. Without his efforts this program could not get the light of reality. I also extend my heartiest thanks to Dr. Muhammad M Zaman of State University of New York, who has shown great commitment and dedication towards this program. I must pay tribute to our other expatriate scholars Dr. Maleka Z Ahmed of Iowa University, Dr. Mashiul Chowdhury of Drexel, Dr. Mohammad M Alam and Dr. Reza Chowdhury of New York, Dr. Anwar of Quest Diagnostics, New Jersey and Dr. Md. Shamze Tabriz of University of Illinois.

With the dynamic leadership of our President Prof. Zahidul Hasan of Square Hospital and outstanding attachment of Dr. Md Shariful Alam Jilani, Dr. S M Shahidul Islam, Dr. Ahmed Abu Saleh and Prof. Munir Hasan I am very optimistic about the future of this campaign.

I am very much indebted to the Principal of HFRCMC Prof Shaheen Chowdhury and Head of the dept of Microbiology Prof. Sabeena Shahnaz. They have always shown keen interest in my efforts and encouraged me to go forward.

I am grateful to our Health Adviser Maj Gen (Rtd) Dr. ASM Matiur Rahman, who extended his support during our 2nd international seminar and Prof Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob, Chairman of BDRCS for his kind cooperation.
